Despite being a Taiwanese national, Chew was entered in the 2059 amateur draft instead of becoming available as an IFA. He was selected 21st overall by the Rocky Mountain Oysters before being traded to Nashville as part of a package for Jim Ploughman, despite being Rule 5 eligible and forced to be on the 40 man roster for 2064 while severely underdeveloped.

The right-hander has electric stuff with three elite pitches: fastball, slider, cutter. His movement is passable and just received a bump to his HRA this offseason. His control has been under heavy scrutiny, but he was able to see a slight improvement in the dev lab this offseason. He's walking nearly 4 batters per 9 IP and that number is not expected to increase much, even if he hits his potential. He'll begin his third season of Single A in 2064, with hopes of being promoted to Double A by end of year. Despite being on 40 man, there is no rush as Chew is seen as a project and likely won't make the Nashville roster until 2066, if at all.
