Sawyer is no stranger to being a Bluebird. As a kid, he spent many days on the Bluebird Gap Farm in his hometown where his parents worked. He became a volunteer in high school and spent his free time as a farm hand, which helped him develop his immense power at a young age. Milking cows and catching eggs helped him develop soft hands that helped lead to his ability to receive the ball as a catcher. These skills helped him win the 2060 Bo Jordan Batter Award and back-to-back Pascal Verhoeve Glove Award in '60 and '61 - a resume good enough to be drafted in the first round of the 2062 draft by the Nashville Bluebirds.
A successful dev lab increased Sawyer's defense behind the plate heading into the 2063 season and helped make him a viable option as a BBA catcher. He surprised many by hitting .361 in Short A after being drafted. While he may not be a starter in the BBA, Sawyer has the potential to be a backup or short-side platoon.
