Tanju hails from Turkey, born to a pair of port workers. As a child, Tanju spent much of his days in the library and often helped the librarians arrange the books. He was given the nickname ‘Roomba’ because of his ability to declutter the messy books by carrying loads of them at a time to the organizing area and for his ability to suck up all the knowledge from the books he read. Carrying the books gave Tanju great strength over the years and after being picked last on the schoolyard’s baseball team for being a nerd, he read as many books about baseball as possible. He applied his newly found knowledge or baseball and physics to learn to hit the baseball with extreme force and caught every scouts’ eye by the time he was in high school.
Nashville signed Tanju for $8.6 million out of the 2061 IFA pool. Despite being very raw, his potential has catapulted Roomba to #2 on Nashville’s very talented prospect list. There is a long way until he finds success, but the 16-year-old could find himself in rookie ball soon enough, especially after developing his power a but just after signing with the Bluebirds.
