1. CF Alfonso Gonzáles: Let’s not get too excited, but Gonzales seems to have finally made some progress here. We’ve got a few more weeks til training concludes, but for the first time it looks like he is trending upwards. Look out Frick League. ON TRACK ^
2. RF Ra’id Usamah: About a month to go in training and it’s pretty clear Usamah isn’t quite ready for the BBA. He will have to rely on power to make it in the BBA and he doesn’t have it figured out yet. At best, he’s a bat off the bench.FRUSTRATED
3. CF Zee-loo Tsao: Guess what? STRUGGLING
4. SP Bin-ying ‘Bye Bye’ Yen: Another case of being overworked? While Yen was still hitting most of the corners, his changeup wasn’t very accurate. He was often leaving it too far inside to right-handed hitters and catching too much of the plate to lefties. He’ll be focusing ont hat this coming month. ON TRACK v
5. CF Adolf Dragota: Alright now. I think we’re finally seeing some progress. Of 30 pitches in his last workout, he only swung at two balls out of the zone. I’ll take it! ON TRACK ^
6. SS Luke Cage: Still looks like Cage has it figured out pretty well, but still a little room for improvement. This final month will be crucial to his future. ON TRACK
7. SP Brent ‘Black Jack’ Chappel: I’ve not see improvement from a pitcher like this in a long time. Chappell has been absolutely filthy and opposing hitters are looking dumb. We may have a future star on our hands. EXCELLING
8. CF Carter ‘Fortnite’ Cramer: Maybe this kid just wants to be a gamer. I wonder if he strikes out as much on BBA The Show ’61 as he does in real life. I’m guessing not. FRUSTRATED
9. SP Harry Spurlock: Uh-oh. This is concerning. Spurlock is still dropping velocity and big increases. I’m hoping there isn’t an underlying injury, but this is cause for concern at this point. FRUSTRATED v
10. SP Javier ‘Pops’ Basanta: I think it’s becoming more clear each week that Basanta isn’t able to add any velocity. Maybe switching him to a reliever will allow him to harness more energy, but he hasn’t figured that out yet since he’s been working on max velo drills. FRUSTRATED ^
