1. CF Alfonso Gonzáles: Ok, maybe there was a _little_ progress here, but Gonzales still can’t detect balls from strikes very well. At least in training, though he did draw 57 walks last year. Hope he add to those numbers this season, but I’m not holding my breath. FRUSTRATED ^
2. RF Ra’id Usamah: Lot of tires spinning in the mud. Usamah is working at hitting the ball harder, but he’s just not making any improvement. Halfway through the training and we haven’t given up hope yet. Would love to see him replace Rivera in the lineup, but he will never match his pop. FRUSTRATED
3. CF Zee-loo Tsao: If tsao keeps this up, he might never see the Nashville lineup, even in a 4th outfielder capacity. The kid seems lost and starting to lose any faith I may have had. STRUGGLING
4. SP Bin-ying ‘Bye Bye’ Yen: We saw some progress from Yen this week. He was hitting the black of the plate with several of his pitches and is solidifying his chances of making the Opening Day roster. ON TRACK ^
5. CF Adolf Dragota: It would be nice if some of the other young CF were progressing, because then it would be easier to trade this guy for something useful. He hasn’t made an ounce of progress this offseason. FRUSTRATED
6. SS Luke Cage: Well, we put the bat in his hands and it just kept causing him to swing at bad pitches. There were times where he would call out ‘slider outside’ and still swing. He’s right there – I feel it. He’s on the cusp of greatness, but just needs to keep working. FRUSTRATED v
7. SP Brent ‘Black Jack’ Chappel: It doesn’t look like last week was a fluke. Chappell continues to impress with the movement on all three of his pitches. If he continues on this track, he will become an elite pitching prospect. EXCELLING
8. CF Carter ‘Fortnite’ Cramer: Another week of performances has caused management to contact Cramer’s agent about his video game usage. It’s evident that Cramer is spending more time online than in the gym and he continues to show no progress. FRUSTRATED
9. SP Harry Spurlock: Spurlock is still throwing heat! His drive off the mound has improved noticeably and the radar gun is showing numbers in the high-90’s consistently. He has shown less movement with the increased velocity, so he will need to work on fusing the two. EXCELLING
10. SP Javier ‘Pops’ Basanta: Pops continues to struggle and has even seen less velocity than normal. This is perhaps from being overworked in an attempt to throw harder he could use a few days off. STRUGGLING v
