In a disappointing 2045 season, one player has remained constant and kept the Nashville Bluebirds in the playoff race - Alberto Rodríguez. The star backstop is now slashing .323/.385/.607 and should garner some votes for the Sawyer Silk award given his importance behind the plate. The front office certainly believes he is one of the most important players in the Frick League and rewarded Rodríguez with a six year extension that will keep him in Nashville until 2051 and will pay a total of $77.5 million plus incentives.
“From day one I wanted to be a Bluebird forever. I spent some time in Vegas and Omaha, but my heart has always been in Nashville and when I returned I made the front office aware of my intentions of retiring as a Bluebird,” said Rodríguez. “Now I can put any concern about an extension behind me and keep winning games. We’ve got a job to finish and I intend to help the team get into the playoffs.”

In 5+ seasons, Rodríguez is batting .287 with 123 HR. The deal will keep him in Nashville through his age 31 season.
