Slugger Shavings 2052.4 - Man Down!

Post by RT60 » Mon Oct 03, 2022 10:16 pm

"It wasn't my fault!" pleaded poor Ernesto Alfonso.

The man couldn't catch a break. Fresh from the hospital sporting a cast on his hand, the news of his 8-9 week injury hit the team hard. The lone acquisition of any consequence over the off-season by new GM BP, there was a lot riding on Alfonso's season. He was looking forward to playing out the final few years of his massive 7M/year contract as a consistent starter, a role he never had been able to achieve despite his success at the plate.

Playing as a DH, Alfonso stroked singles like he was single-handedly trying to bring back a golden era where hitters like him were cherished. He led the team in hits until his injury. But that was on a team that looked like they wanted to be somewhere else most games.

"I feel bad for Ernesto. He just caught a routine fly ball in practice and it broke his hand. We have him play DH for a reason. The man's body is turning into an egg shell. But we can't dwell on this. We need our stars to start busting their asses and show that they care more about the money."

While not confirmed yet, it appears certain that the team will turn to Antonio Castro to save their season.
