Slugger Shavings 2044.03 - Rotation Decisions

Post by sjshaw » Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:25 am

Heading into the Spring, the two-time defending BBA champs appear to have numerous options for one opening on the staff. But, as any follower of the two-time defending BBA champs knows, things can change quickly when you roll with fragile pitchers. The good news is we should have enough adequate arms to toss into a breach caused by more unfortunate injuries. And as we already showed by becoming the two-time defending BBA champs, with our offense, adequate is fine.

Guaranteed Spots

SP James 'Bijou' Browning - 9/7/8 superstar who missed half the 2043 season, but saved our bacon in the playoffs. When he's on, like in 2042, he's one of the top SP in the BBA.
SP Armando 'Commie Child' Feliciano - 10/7/8 potentials - Commie Child got injured, again, very late in 2043. Up to then, he was putting together his best season yet at the superstar level.
SP Stan Palácios - 5/7/8 - Mr. Consistency pitches way above his ratings, and his five 2043 playoff victories all came in deciding or critical games.
SP Juan García - 11/2/6 - Mid-season acquisition from Omaha isn't a superstar, but he's solid for a #4.

Competing for the 5th SP and potential injury replacement

SP Lee McHone - 7/8/4 - Had a nice run late last season with Omaha, and likely will get a chance to pitch every 5 days and get us a comp pick next draft.
SP Freddy 'Boy Scout' Delgado - 6/5/8 - Delgado returns to LOU and probably will be mediocre again, but he's a body
SP Andrés Salinas - 5/6/7 - 21-year-old pitched last year out of desperation. He needs a bump to be special, but again, he's a body.
SP Niall Hanlon - 8/3/8 - Very intriguing guy picked off the scrap heap in FA. Had some decent years in VAL with interesting secondaries.
SP Mike MacRobb - 7/5/6 - Just bumped a little in STU and MOV. If it holds, will at least contribute as a bullpen arm. Sidearm splits could hold him back.
SP Luuk van den Hoek - 7/4/6 - Another guy picked up for free who actually contributed meaningfully for us last year during the injurypocalypse. Gave us 4 decent starts when we needed it. If we need him again this year, it could be trouble.

So that's where Luuk found himself. Turncoat.
