One of the franchise's stars made his last appearance on the mound for LOU recently, perhaps his last BBA game ever. Former BBA superstar SP Augusto Sánchez had his promising career derailed by Tommy John surgery in 2040. Prior to the injury, Sanchez finished as high as 3rd in the 2039 BBA JL Nebraska voting. He put up 3 WAR in his first real season back in 2038, and followed that with a superstar-level 5.4 WAR in 2039 and 6.7 WAR in 2040 prior to his injury.
Sanchez found little success after being relegated to bullpen and short SP stints the past few years, and certainly missed out on the huge extension that surely would have been finalized, had he stayed healthy.
