GM Shaw acquired 3B Rafael 'Big Time' Gutiérrez from Omaha in 2040, and he has been a stalwart ever since.
2.1 WAR for us part-time in 2040, 3.8 WAR last season, and 2.1 WAR so far this season, thanks to a .398 AVG, 129 OPS+, and plus defense.
Now, he will be staying around through 2045 thanks to GM Shaw taking his Corona Stimulus and buying out his arb years. $6.7m per year for the next 3 seasons. Seeing as how he's on pace for 7.1 WAR this season, that will hopefully be a bargain.
