Slugger Shavings 2040.03 - Bullpen to the rescue

The Louisville Sluggers swept the San Fernando Bears in the Geoghegan Round thanks to heroic efforts from their bullpen. A bullpen that, over the season, become a strength instead of a weakness.

Heralded SPs Augusto Sánchez and Armando Feliciano both underwhelmed, one due to being on a "cold streak" and the other due to a sprained ankle. Add in a lineup snafu, and the recipe for destruction of the Sluggers' playoff dreams was ready to be completed.

The bullpen would not allow it. Several RP combined to pitch 19.1 innings and only give up 1 ER. That's amazing work from what many pundits considered the worst bullpen in the Frick early in the season.

The Sluggers now face the formidable California Crusaders in the Doubleday Series, and they'll need more work like that in order to have a chance.

I’m looking forward to the series. We’ll see if my wiley veteran starting staff can keep me in the games.

Most pundits consider Louisville's bullpen the worst in the Frick, but it has more to do with moldy Blue Emu than anything else.
