Sim #18 review
Things had been going pretty bad in July for Louisville, but this sim showed some improvement. They lost the final game of a four-game series with Brooklyn but still had the split and followed it up with a three-game sweep of San Antonio, only their fourth sweep of the year. Moving into August they took two out of the first three at Las Vegas and Doug Clement will go next for the chance of his 10th win and the series win against the Hustlers.
Clement goes today aiming to be the second Louisville pitcher to 10 wins in 2035
In anticipation of Mario Villarreal being traded he was withdrawn from the rotation and Ken Vazquez took his spot for the opening game of the Hustlers series, it was his second start of 2035 and he went the distance. He took the loss though dropping his record to 0-4, a two-run homer surrendered in the bottom of the fifth was the body blow; both starts he has given up four runs but owns a 17/5 K/BB ratio and a 1.05 WHIP. The word is that he may well get another start against Atlantic City next week as the Sluggers figure what to do about the rotation slot. Kevin Morales allowed three more homers, taking his tally to 21 surrendered this season, but only allowed two earned runs and a 0.54 WHIP. Lando Klomp got two run-outs and his control was off as he walked four in 2.2 innings while only striking out three. Carlos Rosa took a loss in his four outings, but he also nailed down three saves, just two runs were allowed in six innings pitched and a 0.95 WHIP. Following a bullpen meeting to try and work out how the team can cut their number of close losses Manager Abe Colbert has agreed to try a less structured system of use of the arms in the ‘pen that some teams have be trying.
Felix Arrojo was annoyed about being made available for trade and took it out on San Antonio, firing his first two homers of 2035 in a rare start and driving in five runs. Without the form of Sean Maguire he would be getting a lot more games but now with his arbitration estimate being $4.4 million there is a real danger that Louisville will non-tender him at the end of the season. Gabriel Talamante only had four hits in the week but three of them went over the fences taking his season’s tally to just one shy of last year’s 25, his defence also remains solid at second. Rookie Vince Osborn also added two more home runs to his impressive total as well as another five RBI, despite making the jump straight from rookie ball to BBA he has 136 hits, 9 homers, 44 RBI and 11 stolen bases from 15 attempts so far. At just 20-yrs-old he surely has a great future in the Bigs in front of him. The only Slugger to triple in the week was Jaime Ramirez who hit two three-baggers to take his tally to nine for the season, just one shy of his career best. Quick on the basepaths was backup George Lee Anderson V who got into four games and ended up with four steals helping to take Louisville’s total to 152, 4th in the JL

Are Doug and Joe Clement brothers? Up until just now I thought it was the same guy and was wondering when Omaha traded him to Louisville. One of these days I'm going to do a league feature on guys who I feel should be related. The Warehams, jumbo and wormtail Valentin, Carlos and Reynaldo Ruiz, ect.

Doug Clement has been the success story of this year. I felt I needed a lefty in the rotation and gave him the chance, while most pitchers movement dropped from seven to six in the ootp19 conversion he stayed at seven. He’s grabbed it with both hands and is the joint win leader at this time.
