Its been a while since Jorge Diaz has won an award.

Not since July 2013 has he captured any honours.

Of course, that month he was named to the JL All-Star team AND was named JL player of the month.

But its been pretty dry since then.

2014 was a career worst year for Diaz. He was shit. a .720 OPS, (for a guy with a career .790 OPS)...a lousy WAR of 1.

Was it the pressure of having TWO young star catchers to fight off for playing time on the Sluggers big league roster? (Matena and Sharp?)

Was it the pressure of living up to the big money contract he signed in July of 2014? ($10 million a season for the next three years.)

Or was he just another Slugger who had a wretched 2014 for apparently no reason at all. (Some say the Sluggers' poor performance was due to Genius Hopkins apparent apathy in 2014)

Whatever the problem was, Diaz looks like the Diaz of old in early 2015.

He captured the JL Player of the week for opening week of play with 13 hits in 24 at-bats for a .542 BAVG. No home-runs and only 5 RBI in there...but he did score 7 runs.
