The Louisville Sluggers bought out the remaining season of first baseman Brian Clough's contract for $3 million, escaping the $20 million the thirty-eight year old was scheduled to make in 2032.
The Sluggers than immediately offered the geriatric a two year, $8 million per, deal.
"We had to sign Clough,"offered Louisville GM Genius Hopkins,"The guy is still an On base machine, and the fans would never forgive me, if he didn't reach 3000 hits as a Slugger."
Clough was evasive when asked if he would accept the large cut in pay,"That's likely more than anyone would else pay me...but if I stay in Louisville I'm stuck with divisional games in shit holes like Madison and Yellow Springs. It didn't matter much before this new division weighted schedule, but now...there's only so much time one man should have to spend in Indy. Its almost cruel and unusual punishment."
