Moonshiners Monitor, Vol. 1.16: Sim 1 Recap

Sometimes it takes a team with new pieces a bit of time to gel. Greenville fans hope that's the case after the first 10 games of the season.

With new starters at first base and catcher and two additions to the rotation, the Moonshiners went 4-6 over that stretch, dropping the first five games of the season. The team rebounded to take four of the final five games, but the damage was done as Greenville trailed Washington by 3.5 games in the standings.

"That wasn't how we wanted to start the year," general manager said, "especially against division rivals Louisville and Baltimore, but at least we bounced back with a three-game sweep of the Sluggers. Hopefully the new guys will get settled into the clubhouse soon and everyone will be more comfortable and better prepared to start winning more games."

Unsurprisingly, the Moonshiners ended the 5-game losing streak behind a strong outing by starter Jay Lee, who threw 8 innings of 1-run ball in an 8-1 victory over Baltimore on April 6. The team scored five runs despite Dan Manville going 0-for-5 and leaving 5 runners on base.

After losing the final game of the Baltimore series, 2-0, Greenville won three straight against Louisville, outscoring the Sluggers by just 4 runs.
