The 2061 Jacksonville Zombies' draft appears to be an overall success, but they will also have one of the more interesting decisions to make after the draft: will they sign starting pitcher Luis Durham, their autopicked #1 pick, or send him back into the draft pool and take a compensation pick next year?
"Obviously, we are concerned that the clock ran out on us," said Zombies' GM Aaron Weiner. "We were too deep in the trenches when the first round was happening and we couldn't get out without attracting too much undead attention."
It doesn't help that Jacksonville was autoselected Durham, who has a huge arm but came into the draft injured and is in many ways not a typical Weiner draft pick despite his huge junior season in college. Durham improved his potential in every year of college, and there are some thoughts that with his outstanding stuff he could be a late round steal.
"Right now we're in a holding pattern on Durham, who really does have amazing stuff but is hurt right now," said Weiner. "Luis might be a lot better than what we might usually get in the second half of the first round for a pitcher, but he will need some coaching."
Not helping the mood around the Jacksonville front office is reportedly Weiner favored multiple pitchers and some of the catchers selected later in the first round, all of whom could have been drafted by the Zombies.
"I'm not going to comment on that, but I do know that we will consider all of our options and all of the facts before making a decision here," said Weiner. "We have added a lot of young talent through IFA this year and we will come to a decision on this matter, soon."

I player sort and look at players with similar attributes. With players of his particular skill level the list is short.Trebro wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 8:35 pmHow did you do that?
