Blowing in the Wind 2055.7: A Quick Look At The Worst Rated Farm in the BBA

Top Prospects

The Jacksonville Hurricanes have had the worst rated farm in the BBA basically since GM Aaron Weiner's arrival. However, Weiner will tell anyone who will listen that the Jacksonville farm is way underrated and in fact is a little bit of a sleeping giant.

"Listen, we have a LOT more on the farm than people think we do, especially after this draft," said Weiner. "We're definitely not strong on pitching, but the hitting side of things is working out very nicely."

Other than a straight miss on last year's first rounder Konstain Yablochov, who has regressed badly as a professional baseball player, there's an argument to be made that some of the Jacksonville prospects are underrated. For example, over the past two years their first round picks have been two switch-hitting players at unusual positions, and it's possible that both of them are considerably better prospects than advertised.

"We're really impressed with Roy O'Donnell," said Weiner. "The guy's 19 and absolutely pounding A ball and we think he's a lot better player than a lot of scouts do."

In addition to O'Donnell, the team is impressed with 2055 second round pick Hamdan Nuh.

"We don't think he's all that far behind a guy like, say, Fareeq bin Su'ud," Weiner said. "He's also absolutely eliminating A ball too and he's just 18 this year."

The team also sees Jedidah Marzuq and Jorge Hernandez as future outfield starters and 2054 second round pick Ernesto Rivera as a possible major leaguer, and see 2055 fourth round pick Pepe Aragon as a potential future star. Along with their picks this year (second baseman Isoruko Takimoto, catcher Jorge Perez, and center fielder Herman Turnbull), the team can envision potential future starters at just about every position except for shortstop and maybe second base, if Takimoto doesn't make it there.

"We actually like our future team," Weiner said. "We think we have solid major leaguers at every one of those positions, and a lot of these guys are really playing good baseball. We're way more excited about our future than the scouts are."

OSA isn't that high on us either. But the results (winning minors) are showing a different story. Hope you're right and they're wrong!

I was getting mad, wondering how you could write something like that about my team. That's why you read the story though I guess.
