50.2 Robillard Rant: Holden Dickson
Take a peek into the private journal of a madman.
I hate Holden Dickson so much. He is everything I hate in a player. I usually enjoy stupid names, but when they player sucks and has a stupid name it infuriates me.
TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY ONE strikeouts last season. He struck out in 40.8% of his at bats last season. 45 homeruns and 30 doubles is cool, but he doesn't DO anything else. His defense isn't good enough either.
What I hate most is that I need him at third base this season and I am so fucking upset about it. Have you ever wished for an injury on a player in a fictional baseball game?
I just know that once this season starts I am going to look over the box score and see Dickson's strikeouts over and over and it's going to be way more often than the time he hits the ball. Then, I am going to look at the game log and see him strikeout in critical times. Luckily, he seemed to be pretty okay with runners in scoring position last year, .892 OPS in 154 at bats.
I want to trade him, but I don't know why anyone would want him unless they have a big homerun park. He might do okay there.

Lol maybe. Good luck if you pick him up. He’s just not my kind of player. It would be fun to make a team out of players like him though.

45 homeruns last year is wild. If someone could stomach him for his entire career, I wonder if he could have a .200 career batting average with 500 homeruns. Way too late for that now at 29 years old, but a player like that would really make some hall of fame voters struggle. That would be fun to watch.

Re: 50.2 Robillard Rant: Holden Dickson
@crobillard - ask and ye shall receive! To answer your question, we have never had a player in the BBA hit over 500 HRs and hit under .200
The lowest career batting average for a player who has hit 500 HomeRuns or more is HoF Long Chamberlain. He hit 560 HRs and batted .245 in his career. Was voted in before my time in the league, but I would not have voted him it.
Here are the players with 500 or more HRs and their batting averages.
If we swap it and look at the lowest batting averages ~.200 and home runs over 100, we get just 3. Look no further than @jiminyhopkins Go TalOns farm system and the Toledo liberty. Still holding on at the age of 35 in single A ball, Barron holds the honor of being top on this list...
