Dugout Dirt 49.08 - Canes Sign Pitcher Dwight Dunn

Post by DugoutDesperado » Sat Nov 27, 2021 11:32 pm

During this past off-season, the Canes have lost a fair amount of their bullpen with the departure of Angel Gomez, John Bartlett and Jose Castro. To help fill one of these voids, the Canes offered a $1.2M/one year contract to reliever Dwight Dunn.

“Part of what Dwight brings to the bullpen is his leadership,” the Canes’ front office was quoted as saying. Last year he pitched 30 games with Rockville churning out a 3.55 ERA in the process over the course of 38 innings.

Jacksonville will also be looking at a few youngsters to fill a couple of those slots including Christopher Mead and Seung-cheol Kim. Mead had a 4.60 ERA over 29 games before going down to injury while Kim had 7 saves in AA last year but a 6.79 ERA. When looking at Kim’s ratings, one would think he would be ready for the majors, but the stats to this point have not backed that up.
