Dugout Dirt 49.04 - Canes Extend Julio Uribe

Post by DugoutDesperado » Sat Nov 27, 2021 8:40 pm

On the heels of the contract extension with Pancho Costa, the Canes have agreed to terms with left-fielder Julio Uribe.

The Canes and Uribe agreed to a three-year/ $31.5M deal that will allow the left-fielder to return to Jacksonville for his 7th full season. Uribe has hit over .320 in each of his past 5 seasons while playing adequate defense in his corner outfield slot.
Uribe came to Jacksonville as part of the trade deadline blitz in 2042 in a deal with the Edmonton Oilers for CF Rocky Allen. In his 7 years with Jacksonville, Uribe has garnished 1022 hits while hitting .327 with a .370 on-base percentage. Uribe has hit a modest 52 home runs and stolen 73 bases while having a combined 10.2 WAR over the last three seasons.

“Julio is one of those role players that does a lot of things decent”, stated right-fielder power house David Simpson. Simpson is often a recipient of having Uribe in scoring position while driving in 335 runs over the past three seasons.

When asked what he likes about Jacksonville, the Panama native replied, “I like the warm weather and the water” as Uribe often likes to fish in his free time.
