Dugout Dirt 48.07 - Canes Extend Pancho Costa

The Canes have agreed to terms on a multi-year deal with first baseman, Pancho Costa, this past week. The terms of the deal were for $64M over a 4 year period with the next year coming in at $13M.

Costa was acquired by the Canes in 2042 as part of the Chris Kelly trade that also brought in Cristo Munoz and Angel Gomez. Over the last 5 and a half seasons, Costa has hit 133 HRs, stolen 251 bases while hitting .300 and playing above average defense at first base. All in all this has accounted for 17.3 WAR during this time period including a 5.1 WAR last season.

When questioned after the game, Costa stated, “It feels good to be recognized, no doubt.”

The Canes front office responded, “ Signing Costa was our top priority, it feels good to have that accomplished.”

Costa has been an integral part of the Jacksonville 64-42 record thus far in 2048.
