Dugout Dirt 48.06 - Canes win Seventh in a Row with 13-inning Thriller

Post by DugoutDesperado » Wed Oct 06, 2021 9:43 pm

The Canes collected their 7th win in a row in marathon-like fashion with a 13-inning 3 to 2 win over the Atlantic City Gamblers.

The Canes scored in the third inning with a Jeremy Pickens RBI double. The Gamblers tied the score in the 8th with a run and appeared to have stolen the game by scoring a run in the top of the 11th inning only to have the Canes tie the score again in the bottom of the 11th with a Pepe Prieto solo shot. Jeremy Pickens came through again in the bottom of the 13th inning with a sacrifice fly into right field.

Edgardo Encarnacion and Gui Jen each collected two hits on the day for the Canes.

Alejandro Chavez (6-0) got the win in relief by getting the final batter out in the top of the 13th before the Canes scored the decisive run.

The win results in the Canes’ record going to 52-38.
