Dugout Dirt 48.01 - Canes Crack Crawdads 12 to 3

On the heels of a 12 game winning streak followed by a 4 game slide, the Canes returned to their winning way by a score of 12 to 3 over the New Orleans Crawdads.

After giving up two in the top of the first, the Canes answered with five runs of their own in the bottom portion of the inning on consecutive run scoring singles by Omer Dijkstra, Pancho Costa and David Simpson. Pepe Prieto chipped in a RBI double and Holden Dickson finished the inning’s scoring with a RBI single.

The Canes scored 3 more in the second on a Simpson 3-run homer, Dijkstra stroked an RBI double in the third and Darryl Pris and Prieto both hit homers in the fourth to closed out the Jacksonville scoring for the game.

Dijkstra went 3 for 5 on the day for the Canes while Simpson chipped in with 4 RBI’s.

Stephen Best (7-3) gained the win giving up 3 runs in 6 innings.

The win results in the Canes’ record going to 46-38.
