The Canes' faithful took a big blow for their deep playoff run hopes as they received the news that Scott Davis is out for the year.
Davis went 21-5 this season with an ERA of 3.54 and a WHIP of 1.18. Davis also registered 161 strikeouts in 178 innings of work.
The injury occurred in front of the home crowd at the Station- CSX field against Atlantic City in the top of the 7th inning with nobody out and the Canes up by a score of 7 to 2.
It is expected that rookie Stephen Best will fill the fifth slot if such a need arises

Shouldn't need a fifth starter in the post season.
