Dugout Dirt 46.07 - Costa Hit Streak Ends at 22

Post by DugoutDesperado » Mon Mar 15, 2021 9:04 pm

Jacksonville first baseman, Pancho Costa, had his hit streak stopped at 22 consecutive games as he went 0 for 1 in a pinch hitting appearance as he was given the day off from the starting lineup. Costa proceeded to get a base hit in the next 6 games after that pinch hitting appearance.

During this stretch of games, Costa went 32 for 99 with 6 home runs. For the season, Costa is hitting at a .331 clip.

When asked if he was bummed about losing the streak when only having one at bat, Costa said, "We came away with the win and David Ward reached base in 4 out of his 5 at-bats scoring 3 times, so all is good. Hit streaks make headlines, but pennants make history."
