Dugout Dirt 46.05 - Take 3

Post by DugoutDesperado » Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:36 am

Late in the second round of the 2042 draft, the Canes decided to take a chance on starting pitcher Takehide Gertrudes. Since being selected, Gertrudes made his way through the minors over the next two years and then spent about a year and a half bouncing back and for the between the big league club and AAA Gotham. The Canes’ front office is hoping this time that the visit in Jacksonville will be permanent and has Gertrudes as their future #3 starter.

In his first three starts this season, the 22 year-old righty has recorded a 1-1 record with a 2.79 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. In his first start of the 2046 season against Rockville, Gertrudes was hit soundly in a 7 to 3 loss where he gave up 5 runs in 3 innings. However, in his following two starts against Charm City and Las Vegas, Gertrudes pitches 8.2 inning of shutout ball against the Jimmies and allowed 1 run in 7.2 innings against the Hustlers.

Pitching coach, Ken Riley, stated, “When Takee takes the mound, it is like opening a box of chocolates – and boy, does he ever like his chocolates.”

The Canes’ faithful hopes that Gertrudes turns into the steady mid-rotation guy in the Canes’ rotation puzzle.
