In the whirlwind that has occurred since the 2045 draft slightly less than a year ago where the Canes picked starting pitcher Peter Dean with the sixth overall pick, Dean has made his way into the starting rotation of Jacksonville.

In his four starts this season, the 23 year0old righty has used his first 4 starts to compile a 2-0 record with a 0.93 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. In his debut against Brooklyn, Dean allowed 1 run over 5.2 innings of work as the Canes won the game by a score of 2 to 1. Dean followed this up by another one run performance over the course of 7.1 innings against Charm City. After hitting the shower early against Atlantic City (Dean left with back spasms after pitching one-third of an inning), Dean game back and pitched six innings of shut-out ball against Mexico City but gained no decision as the Canes eventually lost by a score of 1 to 0.

When asked about his stellar start, the Plymouth, Indiana native said, “I have a good defense behind me and just enough run support for us to eek out a few wins when I am on the mound.”

The Canes’ faithful hopes that this trend with Dean continues.
