Post by DugoutDesperado » Sat Jan 02, 2021 7:17 pm

In this installment of the Pitching Prospect Tracker (PPT) where a game is analyzed for a pitcher within the Canes’ farm system, the focus will be on William Mathews.

The 19 year-old right hander pitched against the Cheyenne Bulls on 7-Ju1-2045. The Port Arthur Pythons was on the winning end of a 7 to 1 score. Mathews was credited with the win to improve his Rookie league record to 2-1. During the game, Mathews pitched 6.1 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5. Out of his 83 pitches thrown, 55 of those pitches were for strikes.

This performance left Mathews with a 2.17 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in 7 starts for the Pythons.

The Python coach said, "Once Willie got his first W last time out, he is now on a roll with his 5th quality start in his last 6 appearances."
