Dugout Dirt 2044.33 - Mid year AAA Pitching Assessment

Post by DugoutDesperado » Thu Oct 08, 2020 12:17 pm

As the half-way point of the 2044 season is upon us, we have decided to take a look at the AAA pitching staff from Gotham. Overall, the Heroes are standing at 45-43 on the season. The ERA of the starters is currently 3.71 which is good enough for the second best in the GL of the AAA affiliates.

Leading the starting rotation is 20 year-old Takehide Gertrudes. Selected in the second round in the 2042 draft, Takehide has quickly made is way up to AAA where he has compiled an 8-0 record. His ERA of 2.58 and WHIP of 0.99 is also showing that he is comfortable in AAA. Although he did a couple of starts in Jacksonville as an injury replacement that did not go well (31.91 ERA), look for Takehide to be in the mix in the opening day rotation in 2045.

Another 20 year-old that is keeping pace with Gertrudes is Arthur Rogalski. Arthur was also a second round pick in the 2042 draft and then acquired by the Canes in a trade involving C Ramiro Cheron. Rogalski is 9-6 with a 2.62 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. Like Gertrudes, Rogalski is figured to be in the discussions for the 2045 starting rotation come opening day next season.

The next pitcher is a 21 year old southpaw who was a 2041 first round pick named Alfredo Contreras. Although his ratings are not as high as Gertrudes and Rogalski, he has put together a good season so far with a 5-2 record and a 2.98 ERA. While he may not be on the opening day roster in 2045, Alfredo may provide some decent insurance as an emergency backup.

Notable contributors in the bullpen include Kane Thurman and Kwan-choel Park. Thurman has been holding down the closer role with a 3.62 ERA and 29 saves. At 24 years old, Kane’s time may need to be soon if he is going to be a contributor at the big league level.

Park has a 4-1 record with a 3.11 ERA and appears to be on the edge of being able to crack the big league club at the age of 21. The off-season and spring training camp next year may go a long way in determining if Park will be ready in 2045.

Damn... I'm a bit saddened that Park fell off the way he did in his development. He's pitching well, but he should be so much more.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.

If half my AAA pitchers hadn’t had to cover in Wichita my Albuquerque pitching staff might have been a lot better
