The Canes tied the score at 1 in the second inning with a solo shot by Jeremy Pickens (his 11th). The Canes then scored two more in the third with Jose Zuniga’s 20th blast of the year. This turned out to be all that the Canes would need on this night.
The homers by Zuniga and Pickens were the only two hits allowing by the Crawdads on the night.
Domenic Blondell (4-2) had a strong outing allowing 1 earned run in 7.1 innings. Fernando Guerrero notched is 21st save by pitching a perfect 9th inning.
Jim Armstrong (5-3) was the hard luck loser giving up 3 runs on 2 hits while striking out 10 over 6.2 innings.
The win improved the Canes’ record to 32-29.
