The Canes only managed two hits on the day but they made them count. In the top of the 5th inning, Kiichi Suzuki hit a one-run double and then Juan Lopez scored on a passed ball to give the Canes all of the offense they needed.
Nick Mobley (3-1) was credited with the win by pitching 7 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits. Fernando Guerrero notched his 10th save by pitching a perfect 9th.
Ashton Brooks (1-2) was the hard-luck loser allowing one earned run and two hits in 5.1 innings.
The win improves the Canes’ record to 13-15.
