The Canes jumped out to an early 5 to 0 lead over the first two and a half innings. Jeremy Pickens had a RBI single in the first and a two-RBI single in the second. Daryl Pris added a solo homer in the second and Juan Lopez added a solo homer in the third.

The Robins then answered with 5 runs of their own over the next 6 innings to tie the score at 5 at the end of 8 innings. Most of the damage was done with homers from Matthew Reilly and Bing-de Zhao.

With the score tied in the 9th, Julio Uribe started the inning with a double who eventually scored on an Omer Dijkstra single with two outs.

Uribe, Pickens and Lopez each had two hits on the day for the Canes while Reilly had four hits for the Pikemen.

Angel Gomez (1-0) gained the win in relief while Fernando Guerrero notched his first save of the season.

Danny Leach (0-1) was tagged with the loss by giving up 1 run in 2 innings of work.
