The Canes scored in the first inning on a Pancho Costa double followed by a Jose Zuniga RBI single. Jacksonville scored two more runs on a pair of RBI doubles in the third. With the game tied at 3 going into the bottom of the 9th, the stage was set. Zuniga delivered on the late game heroics with a two-out RBI double by Zuniga. Zuniga went 4 for 5 on the day with 3 RBI’s.
Sabir Askeri had a decent outing without a decision giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 8 in 7 innings Angel Gomez (2-0) was credited with the win by pitching two shutout innings in relief.
Jose Ordonez (1-4) was tagged with the loss giving up a run in the 9th.
The win improved the Canes’ record to 32-29.
