The Canes scored a run in the first on a single by David Ward. Two more runs were scored in the second inning thanks to a RBI single by Mitsuhide Suzuki and a sacrifice fly by Daryl Pris. Jose Zuniga hit his 21st home run of the season in the 7th to finish out the Canes’ scoring. Zuniga went 3 for 4 from the plate on the day.
Nick Mobley (5-5) gained the win allow one run in 5 innings. Hector Gonzalez pitched 1.2 inning of scoreless relief and Fernando Guerrero pitched a perfect 9th for his 22nd save.
Guillermo Sanchez (2-7) was tagged with the loss giving up three runs in five innings.
The win improved the Canes’ record to 31-29.
