The Canes scored its first run in the bottom of the second inning on a run scoring single by Jose Moran. The Canes scored two more runs in the fourth with a run scoring Mitsuhide Suzuki double and a RBI single from Pancho Costa. Costa knocked in two more runs with a single in the sixth and Jeremy Pickens drive in one more with a double. The Canes stole 7 bases on the day without getting caught. Suzuki’s two steals gave him a total of 21 stolen bases and Costa three steals gave him a season total of 20.
Domenic Blondell (3-3) gained the win by allowing one run on three hits in seven innings of work Fernando Guerrero notched his 22nd save of the season by giving up one run in the 9th inning.
Lee McHone (2-8) was tagged with the loss as he gave up three runs in five innings.
The win improves the Canes’ record to 30-28.
