The Canes jumped out early with six runs in the first inning. Mitushide Suzuki had a sacrifice fly in the inning and Mike Schofield hit his 4th homer of the season which was of the grand slam variety. Alejandro Rodriguez hit his 6th homer of the season in the third inning and Jose Zuniga added his 15th home run of the year in the 8th inning. Zuniga and Rodriguez both had two hits on the day.
Carlos Rodriguez (5-0) claimed the win giving up 1 run on 3 hits in 7.1 innings while striking out 9.
Enrico Rivera (3-3) absorbed the loss giving up seven runs in 2.1 innings.
The win improves the Canes’ record to 21-26.
