The Canes scored early and often during the contest. The four runs in the bottom of the 1st inning on a pair of two-run homers by Pancho Costa (his 9th) and Alejandro Rodriguez (his 5th). The Canes tallied three more in the third with a RBI double from Omer Dijkstra, a sacrifice fly from Alejandro Rodriguez and a RBI groundout from Juan Lopez. In the 7th, Pancho Costa hit his second homer of the night and 10th of the season. The 8th inning included a grand slam from Mitsuhide Suzuki which was his 9th homer of the season.
Sabir Askeri (5-1) claimed the win giving up three runs in 7.1 innings.
Jorge Hernandez (2-2) absorbed the loss giving up seven runs in 2.1 innings.
The win improves the Canes’ record to 20-26.
