The Canes were held scoreless until the top of the 9th when they scored a run to tie the score at 1. The run in the 9th came from Daryl Pris’ sacrifice fly. Jose Zuniga hit his 12th homer of the season in the 10th which turned out to be the game winner.
Peter Grady (1-1) gained the win by pitching 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Fernando Guerrero notched in 8th save of the season by pitching a perfect 9th inning.
Juan Alvarez (0-4) lost for the second straight night by a run in the top of the 10th.
The win improves the Canes’ record to 12-18.
