The Canes scored in the 1st inning with an RBI single from Pancho Costa. The Canes scored another run in the 4th with Omer Dijkstra’s 2nd homer of the season. The Canes tagged on two more in the 8th with Jose Zuniga’s 11th home run of the season. Jacksonville then added an insurance run in the 9th with a run-scoring fielder’s choice off the bat of Jose Nunez. Daryl Pris went 3 for 3 on the day.
John Bartlett (1-0) gained the victory by pitching 2.1 innings of perfect relief. Fernando Guerrero notched in 7th save of the season by pitching a perfect 9th inning.
Juan Alvarez (0-3) was saddled with the loss giving up three runs in two innings.
The win improves the Canes’ record to 11-18.
