Dugout Dirt 2042.01 - Relocation to Jacksonville

Post by DugoutDesperado » Tue Mar 31, 2020 4:02 pm

On March 28th, 36 years to the day (58 in BBA years) of the infamous Colts move from Baltimore, the Jacksonville front office off-loaded 15 Mayflower trucks from a cargo ship and they drove through the city of Beirut arriving at the Dugout Dirt office building shortly after 10 PM local time. At that point the trucks were loaded with printing presses, desks, office supplies, stale doughnuts etc. to make their way out of Beirut taking separate routes back onto the cargo ships to set sail toward Jacksonville in an effort to allude the local authorities.

All but one of the trucks made it back to the ship as it was intercepted by the local authorities trying to prevent the last-minute move out of Beirut. Unfortunately, that truck was filled with Ryne Sandberg memorabilia which was quite unfortunate as that stuff was going to be used in a future trade with Yellow Springs as rumor has it that the YS first lady is an avid fan of Sandberg. The front office is mulling over the prospect of replacing the Sandberg wax figure one of the Jonas brothers hoping that the deal does not get nixed.

With the Mayflower trucks making their way across the Atlantic, the entire Dirt staff have been relocated in Jacksonville and are currently ready to resume operations under the same Dugout Dirt header that was initiated in Beirut during Greathouse’s tenure there. With the total Hurricane minor league system evaluation completed as of yesterday, the front office will be available to provide the Dugout Dirt with the inside the park information.

Well, <scratches shoe on dirt path> I admit there's a reason our kid was going to be named Ryne is she'd been a boy.

I have always been told that I have a lot of baggage. :) It was my feeble attempt at mirroring the Colts move. That is how many the Colts used when they left Baltimore. They also had the 15 trucks take different routes out of Maryland so the police could not stop the convoy as the city of Baltimore was hours of seizing the Colts franchise as part of eminent domain if I remember correctly.

Being well versed in moving franchises ;) I can assure you that the best way to go is just with a carrier bag containing just your dossier on the new franchise, a couple of cheese sandwiches and a four-pack
