José Carlos Solíz
Rumor has it that the Hurricanes are releasing veteran lefty José Carlos Solíz. With the Hurricanes hurting in the rotation, this is a very puzzling turn of events. A 5 year veteran, Solíz has averaged over 200 innings with a 65-33 record and 4.20 ERA over the past 4 seasons, plus he is coming off a 20 win season.

Our inside sources are claiming that the 30 year old has seen significant drops in his velocity over the offseason and some are even questioning if he has the arsenal required to be a starting pitcher any more. Still, this isn't a move you would expect to see a team without 5 clear locks in the rotation to be making this close to Opening Day without another plan in the works. Stay tuned to see what all this means.

Interesting.
Well, it didn't end up going where I thought. I put up a competitive offer for Behner, but he went with the shorter, higher AAV deal. Possibly a smart move if he can hold up for 2 more years, a final contract will probably be more than I was offering for that 3rd year.

But, it will open up some cap room if I find a trade I like.
