The Jacksonville squad went the distance against the Crawdads from New Orleans but eventually lost in 5 games.

This was somewhat done in heart-breaking fashion as the Canes pitching allowed 2 or fewer runs in 4 of the 5 games even with the absence of ace Scott Davis.

That absence may have rendered its head in game 5 when the Canes lost by a score of 10 to 4 after Jose Martinez gave up 5 runs in two-thirds of an inning.
