After a mediocre April where the Canes finished 11-15, the month of May proved to be slightly better with a May record of 16-12. While this will not set the BBA on fire, this is at least a step in the right direction to keep the Canes within striking distance of that final wild card spot two months into the season (current record is 28-27). The Canes are within 5.5 games of all 4 wild card teams at this point. Jacksonville was in a similar spot last year starting out 32-29 last year before hitting their dreadful 2-23 skid.
The Canes recorded a fan interest hanging around 75 with the average attendance still close to the 40K mark at 39,865 per game. The average attendance for Jacksonville last season was 22,200 by comparison. The projected revenue is still at $113.9M which is still almost a $14M increase over last season
Jose Zuniga is putting together a fine season to this point cranking out 19 home runs and hitting at a .328/.377 clip. Omer Dijkstra has hit 11 dingers and Jeremy Pickens has hit 10 to this point in the season.
On the mound, Carlos Rodriguez has an ERA of 3.39 with a record of 5-1 while Domenic Blondell has an ERA of 3.29 with a record of 3-1. On the back end of the games, Fernando Guerrero has 20 saves with a 2.37 ERA and rookies Cristo Munoz and Dylan Clark have ERA’s of 2.62 and 2.55 respectively. Second year reliever John Bartlett has an ERA of 2.30 to this point this season.
LIke last year, June will go a long way in determining if the Canes have a chance at being contenders or once again pretenders.

Yes I did.
I usually do not get into too big of a hurry on moving people until All Star Break unless the right offer comes along.
