Dugout Dirt 2043.04 - Jacksonville Releases Kelile Chimanga

The Canes front office released starting pitcher Kelile Chimanga today. The 26 year-old southpaw has pitched for Jacksonville for the last 7 seasons with a 34-55 record and a 5.79 ERA. Kelile registered 496 K’s in 738 innings of work and a combined WAR of 3.5 over the 7 year period. Kelile’s best season was in 2040 where he went 12-11 with a 4.65 ERA.

Over the last two seasons Kelile’s record was 11-33 with a 7.11 ERA. Kelile was due for arbitration this coming season and was estimated to increase to about $750K. With the increase and recent performance in mind, the front office decided it was best that the two parties went in different directions.

At this point, the only potential projected starters for next season are Carlos Rodriguez, Jesus Lopez and Christo Munoz. Carlos is coming off a season-long injury while the jury is still out on Jesus and Christo needing more seasoning.
