The Robins did revamp their rotation through a minor league promotion and hitting free agency, but the team defense certainly needed an overhaul. With the two new pitchers being very much a groundball oriented pitcher, investing in the middle infield defense became a huge need. Francisco Garcia was the choice on a short term deal, and he should fit the bill. There has been a lot of talk about shortstops this offseason and the type of one that you are getting. Garcia was brought in because he is going to help improve the Robin infield defense.
Garcia is no stranger to the Atlantic, having been a New Orleans player and someone who you could count on as a good defender even as he is reaching the twilight of his career. The hope is that he can shore up a weakness that the Robins have, and not expected to worry about improving an already very good Robins offense. "I do feel pretty good about being here. Brooklyn took a big stride last year, and it has been encouraging to see that the front office was making moves to get us in a place where we can have a home game in the playoffs. I want to be part of the solution here."
