Brooklyn State of Mind: Robins Making Critical Decisions Ahead of Salary Questions (2058.5)

Post by lordtoffee » Sat Apr 06, 2024 4:10 pm

The Robins have faced a tough year of injuries, bad losses, and frankly some questionable signings, but the offseason is going to have a lot of important questions to answer. As of this moment, the Robins are going to be facing a decision about bringing Pepe Espinosa back, which would give them 11 million dollars of room to get back, as well as some arbitration cases that are of course dependent on what that process goes through. But the interesting thing facing the Robins is that some of their best players are going to have options. Now, we tried to get information from the team about their plans, but sources high up in the organization has said that to give any definitive information in the press would be akin to me giving my online banking information to the Nigerian prince email scammers.

McBride, Lowry, and Brace all have the ability to test the free agent market this year due to either an opt out or a player option. They haven't indicated one way or another, but their decisions could mean that the Robins would be looking at over 40 million in space to fill holes if they all opt out. No indication will come until the offseason happens, and teams have to deal with those opt outs. Needless to say, the Robins have anticipated every single scenario over the last week, and have given those three players the space to make their decisions. The Robins have two team options on relievers, and they are already prepared to make those decisions, and are going to look towards the mythical PPT reward system again to give them some more cash to work with.
