In the midst of what has been a trying season for Brooklyn, the McBride milestone watch has been one key storyline that the BBA world can focus on. McBride has been chasing 700 home runs, which is an incredible milestone, and with the Baseball Hall of Fame officials and BBA brass on hand to witness history on Saturday, the Robins and Pikemen ended up playing a game at Ebbets Field that will live long in the memory of those who attended, watched on the BBA platforms, and those who played the game.
While normally the 13 combined runs that the teams scored in the last two innings, Emilio Morales Jr. hitting a walk off homer, and the sudden change of a game from the ho hum into game of the season contention would all be worthy of the headlines, this night belonged to McBride. He stepped up to bat in the 8th inning, and hit a solo home run to give himself 700 for his career. While he has languished on some bad Robins teams and could possibly be hanging up his cleats at the end of the year, getting to 700 is rare air. He is going to go down as someone who will be headed to the Hall of Fame. His bat is already going to the Hall of Fame, as the officials from the Hall of Fame took it in exchange for McBride keeping the home run ball. Thankfully, a certain social media ballhawker wasn't able to catch the ball. All in all, McBride deserved to have this moment, the game deserved this moment, and those that were lucky to be at the game deserved it.

Glad to see this. I remember the good old days when McBride blew out his knee and was lost for the season in April, but was still added to the AS team just to make me pay his $3 million AS bonus. Good Times.

McBride is pretty much a lock for the Hall. I'd be surprised if he retires, though. He's got 16 million reasons not to.

BTW, this led me to the career HR list. Did anyone else know that Felix Roman has a real chance at Sadaru Oh? Because I didn't.
