Brooklyn State of Mind: Team Statement on Morales Jr. Contract (2057.15)

Following the events of the Emilio Morales Jr. contract and the discussion that has swirled around the BBA community, the Brooklyn Robins have issued a team statement through the ownership, front office, and on field staff.

"The Brooklyn Robins understand why the rules are the rules, and aren't upset at the Commissioner's Office, Governing Board, and those that make the rules for inflicting the punishment consistent with the league rules. The team made a mistake with the contract based on a flawed reading of the rule in question, and am fine with the voiding of the contract and accept the penalty as given by the BBA. The rules are the rules, and the Robins should be held accountable. The team has been working on a proposal that hopefully be considered by the BBA to change the rule in the future in a manner that is hopefully fair and reasonable to all the franchises in the BBA, and will present it to the GB.

We will move on from this and continue to focus on winning games, with an eye on finishing with as good a record as possible between now and the end of the season, and this will be the last public comment that anyone in the organization makes to a member of the media. Once again, the Robins would like to offer an apology to the Commissioner's Office, Governing Board, the other teams, our staff, our players, and our fans for overshadowing what should have been a great last few weeks on the field of play with something that happened off the field of play."
