Brooklyn State of Mind: García Making Huge Strides in Second Year (2057.12)

It's been no secret that the Robins have had a rough go of it for a while now, and after years of losing you wouldn't be blamed for thinking that there was no direction in Flatbush. But as we have seen in the first two months of the 2057 season, there have been reasons for optimism. The Robins sit only 3.5 games back in the wild card hunt, and the young talent that the Robins have acquired has combined with some free agent signings to give Ebbets Field a different vibe. A lot of the ink about the Robins this year has been grabbed by the position players and the new pitchers, but Julio Garcia has been quietly having a good 2nd year in the BBA.

Garcia was drafted in the 10th round of the 2054 draft, and wasn't expected to be in the rotation for the Robins this soon. But after coming up through the ranks, he was given a chance in 2056 out of the bullpen, and struggled in that role. But with the Robins rebuilt rotation, he was given a chance to start full time and has been arguably their most consistent starter, with his ERA under 4, his ERA+ increasing, and him being an above average fielder. While I don't blame voters for not giving him a look at the All Star Game given that there are a bunch of better pitchers, Garcia should at least get a look.
