Brooklyn State of Mind: Robins Have Great All Star Weekend (2055.6)

While the Robins are in the midst of another tough season, All Star Weekend turned out to be a fun week to be a Robins fan. It all started in the Home Run Derby. McBride was named to the contest, and the veteran home run hitter didn't disappoint. He fought his way through 3 tough rounds of competition to win the event, and the Robins fans who had made the journey down from Brooklyn to Maryland were thrilled. A poster of McBride holding the trophy aloft is now available at the Robins team store and online. While the Robins would love to have more team honors this year, McBride winning a competition against the best sluggers in the BBA does count for something, and it was fun to see that he still has the ability to perform.

McBride would play in the All-Star Game, and would start alongside Raul Fernandez. Neither man would end up getting a hit, but for a second division team to have two starters speaks to the level of respect both players have in the game, and the good karma seems to have been able to translate to the road trip. The Robins are 2-2 after the break, and are 6-4 in their last 10. While it is highly unlikely that the Robins will pull off a miracle rally, if a few good weeks get strung together, then the Robins could show some improvement and build to next season, where some new pitchers are expected to come into play.

It was, and at the very least gave me a TN.
